I really didn’t know what I was getting into when I decided to build our house and act as the general contractor. I was fortunate to have worked with Clark and his crew at Northern Lights Timber Framing and could not recommend them more highly. Through the building process, I worked with around 15 contractors. Something I picked up on rather quickly was that there is a vast range in the degree of professionalism, integrity, and craftsmanship when working with a contractor. Clark was helpful with advice from the beginning design stages, while the timber frame was being carved off-site, and until the job was done. After a contract price was negotiated, I found out building code required dormers in the loft level bedrooms. Clark helped me resolve the issue, working with the home designer and the SIP contractor, and kept the same contract price. Once it was time to erect the frame, they showed up when they said they would and they completed the project on schedule and on budget. I was very happy with my experience with Northern Lights Timber Framing and, most importantly, I am very happy with the way my home turned out.

Northern Lights sponsored a team in the North Shore Dragon Boat Festival in Grand Marais, July 29-30.  This was our fifth year in the festival, and we took first place in our division!  We took 5th overall, out of 18 teams.  Thanks to all our employees, friends and families who paddled and made this a great weekend.  Here are some more pictures.

	We raised a frame on Minnesota's Northwest Angle.   It's the northernmost timber frame in the US outside of Alaska!

	One of our frames, the Annandale Tower, was chosen as "Home of the Month" by the Minneapolis StarTribune for the month of August, 2010.
	We held a Service Project here in our Minneapolis shop February 23-27th, 2010.  We helped a group of parishioners from a local church build a Bell tower.  It was even on the local news (Make sure you play the video)!  It's solid white oak, and should last for generations.
